In this paper we give an introduction into distributed computing, a way of solving complicated
computational and data processing problems by means of using large number of computing and data
storage resources which are remote from each other. In general, the term "distributed computing"
includes large number of various approaches and specific technologies for solving such problems.
The main attention in this paper is devoted to a specific approach, namely, to technologies of creation
and exploitation of large grid systems.
