Laboratory of space information analysis and display

The Laboratory of space information analysis and display (LSIAD) is organized in 2005. It's Head is DSc. Vladimir Kalegaev.

The scientists of the Laboratory are specialized in the analysis of space information by means of automated data processing and storage facilities and space environment models developed by the specialists of the Department on space monitoring. Information on the current space radiation conditions is displayed and forecasted for a short-term or long-term periods by means of Internet-technologies. This projects are developed in cooperation with the developers of the scientific equipment and experimenters in order to extract the best-attested information from the space measurements data.

At the moment space measurements data is received from the satellites operated on the orbit - Meteor-M1, Electro-L1, ACE, GOES, SDO and from the NASA, NOAA space weather centers and world data centers (WDC) in Kioto and Potsdam.

By means of the developed models the scintists of the Laboratory summarize the obtained empirical data and simulate the structure of magnetospheric lumps and the dynamics of magnetospheric processes. Taking the measurements performed by the ground-based and space-born facilities in the fixed points during the limited period of time as input parameters the models provide additional information about the spce conditions in the areas where the measurements are not performed. The following interactive models of different space factors are used during experimental studies:

– a model of cosmic rays particles flux;
– a model for the calcuations of radiation dose on the near-Earth orbit;
– a model for forecasting of the speed of solar wind quasi-stationalry fluxes basing on the obtained parameters of the coronal holes and other space-physics data;
– a model for forecasting of the hourly values of Dst geomagnetic index basing on the solar wind parameters.

Finally space information is published at the site of the Center of space weather analysis http://swx.sinp.msu.ru on open access.

Information is provided for scientific research, for practical applications, including evaluation of radiation risks on the satellites orbits and for necessary decision making in the case of adverse space conditions.
