Space practice laboratory
Space practice laboratory (SPL) was organized in 2005. It's Head is PhD. Sergey Krasotkin.
After successful launch of the first Russian educational and scientific micro-satellite "Universitetsky-Tatiana" on January 20, 2005 the Laboratory provides practical courses for the students basing on the satellite measurements data. An up-to-date computer classroom was organized in the Department on space monitoring (DSM) with the support of Hewlett-Packard company. The students of the Chair of space physics and the Astronomical division of MSU have regular studies basing on experimental data of the "Universitetsky-Tatiana" and other microsatellites.
A handbook "Space practice" with description of the problems and necessary theoretical fundamentals was prepared and published under the editorship pf Alexander Kovtukh. The handbook includes about 10 problems directed on the studies of radiation conditions in the near-Earth space basing on the information from the satellite "Universitetsky-Tatiana" and other spacecrafts. SINP scientists and lecturers of Nuclear physics division (NPD) of the University took part in the development of the problems.
"Space practice" handbook is delivered to several Russian Universities. Besides, it is on open access http://space.msu.ru.
The Laboratory takes part in educational measures for Russian Universities and schools: its scientists organize popular lectures for wide range of participants, specialized lectures for the students of space branch and school teachers, practical courses based on satellite measurements data.
